What data we collect
When you use the Miami-Dade Home Insurance Tool, we collect:
- Email address - Used to send you updates about your document processing and renewal reminders
- Insurance documents - Policy declaration pages you upload for analysis
- Extracted policy information - Carrier name, premium, coverage amounts, dates, and other policy details
- Property address - To associate your policy with your geographic area
- Renewal outcomes - What happened when your policy renewed (if you choose to share)
How we use your data
- To process your documents - We extract information from your policy documents to show you your coverage details
- To show area patterns - We aggregate anonymized data from your area to show patterns. Your individual data is never shown to others
- To send reminders - We send email reminders before your renewal date
- To request outcomes - After your renewal, we ask what happened so we can show accurate patterns
How we store your data
- Document files are stored encrypted in secure cloud storage
- Database records are stored in a secured database with encryption at rest
- Access is limited to authorized personnel only
Data retention
- Documents - We retain uploaded documents for up to 2 years after your last login, then delete them
- Extracted data - Policy information is retained as long as you have an account
- Aggregated patterns - Anonymized data used for area patterns is retained indefinitely
How to delete your data
To delete your data, email privacy@miami-insurance-tool.com with your request. We will:
- Delete your uploaded documents
- Delete your extracted policy information
- Remove your email from our systems
- Note: Anonymized aggregate data that has already been incorporated into area patterns cannot be individually removed
Data sharing
We do not sell your data.
We share data only with:
- Service providers who help us operate the tool (cloud hosting, email delivery)
- When required by law if we receive a valid legal request
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email.
